This term, learners at The Stable School in Christchurch have been enjoying a new addition to their weekly DIVE activities on Friday afternoons: fishing.
The sessions offer learners the opportunity to develop practical skills, teamwork, patience, and confidence in an outdoor environment. By engaging directly with nature, learners are able to combine recreational activity with learning, building new skills in a supportive and enjoyable setting.
Denise Carpenter, Principal at The Stable School, said:
“Introducing fishing into our DIVE activities has been a wonderful success. Our learners are developing new skills, enjoying the outdoors, and learning the value of patience and teamwork. It’s great to see them so motivated and engaged.”
The weekly fishing sessions are part of the school’s commitment to providing hands-on, enriching activities that support learners’ personal growth and wellbeing.
