The Stable School Celebrates Inclusion with ‘Doorway to Difference’ EDI Installation

Learners at The Stable School came together on Monday 29th June to create a vibrant and collaborative art installation celebrating Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI), transforming a set of glass doors into a colourful “Doorway to Difference”.

The inspiring project encouraged learners to explore what it means to feel represented, valued and included, while celebrating the individuality that makes The Stable School such a welcoming community. Through a range of creative activities, learners shared their thoughts and experiences of belonging, acceptance and inclusion.

Each learner created a colourful handprint accompanied by a personal message reflecting what makes their school community special. They also decorated symbolic keys, representing how every individual has the power to unlock the door to diversity, understanding and opportunity. These contributions were displayed within a large doorway filled with learners’ reflections, experiences and celebrations of individuality.

The centrepiece of the project was an interactive installation using the school’s glass doors as a creative canvas. Over the course of the day, learners added drawings, words and positive messages, allowing the artwork to grow and evolve with every contribution. The result is a bright, engaging display that showcases the many voices within The Stable School while reinforcing the importance of creating a community where everyone feels respected, included and empowered to be themselves.

The collaborative artwork serves as a lasting reminder that diversity should be celebrated and that every learner plays an important role in creating an inclusive environment where everyone can thrive.

School Principal, Denise Carpenter, said:

This beautiful collaborative display demonstrates the power of creativity to bring people together and reminds us that our differences are our strengths. I am incredibly proud of the thought, care and enthusiasm our learners showed in creating such a meaningful piece of artwork.”

The project beautifully demonstrates The Stable School’s ongoing commitment to Equality, Diversity and Inclusion, celebrating the unique qualities of every learner and reinforcing the message that everyone has a valuable part to play in shaping a kind, welcoming and inclusive school community.
