Learners from Bude and Waikiki classes at The Stable School enjoyed an enriching educational visit to Bournemouth University on 22nd April, where they took part in an engaging Story Writing workshop delivered by Story Works.
The workshop provided learners with the opportunity to explore their creativity, develop their storytelling skills and build confidence in expressing their ideas. Through a series of interactive activities, learners were encouraged to create their own narratives, experiment with language and collaborate with peers in a supportive and inspiring environment.
The experience formed part of the school’s commitment to providing meaningful, real-world learning opportunities that extend beyond the classroom. By working with professional facilitators in a university setting, learners were able to gain valuable insight into creative writing while also experiencing a new and aspirational environment.
Staff reported that learners were highly engaged throughout the session, demonstrating enthusiasm, imagination and a willingness to share their ideas. The workshop not only supported literacy development but also encouraged self-expression and communication which are key skills for both education and life beyond school.
Denise Carpenter, Principal at The Stable School, said:
“We are always looking for opportunities to enrich our learners’ experiences and broaden their horizons. This workshop was a fantastic way to bring writing to life, helping our learners to build confidence in their creativity and voice. We are incredibly proud of how they engaged with the experience and the imaginative ideas they produced.”
The Stable School continues to prioritise creative and experiential learning opportunities that support each learner’s individual development, helping them to grow in confidence and discover their potential.
